On Monday, the defendant in four unprecedented criminal cases will be inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States.

Donald Trumpโ€™s legal strategy the last two years has been to delay his cases beyond the presidential election, so that if he won the election, they would halt.

It was a successful gamble. The protections of the presidency will ensure Trump can lead the country without any criminal legal entanglements.

Welcome to the final edition of The Trump Trials newsletter. When we started 16 months ago, Trump had been indicted four times and was still competing for the Republican nomination for president.
